In August 1960, the Parahyangan Catholic University (now known as Universitas Katolik Parahyangan) opened the Faculty of Engineering. The Faculty of Engineering consisted of two departments: the Civil Engineering Department and the Architecture Department. Symbolically, the Faculty of Engineering was led by Prof. Ir. A.M. Semawi from 1960 to 1963, who then officially served as the first Dean from 1963 to 1979. At the beginning of Prof. Ir. A.M. Semawi’s leadership, he was assisted by Ir. Tjan Kwie Nio as the Academic Vice Dean for the Architecture section and Ir. A. Kartahardja as the Academic Vice Dean for the Civil Engineering section.
The opening of the Faculty of Engineering in 1960 and the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences in 1961 led to an increase in the number of students. Consequently, in 1964, the Foundation rented a portion of the Olympia Bakery building located on Jalan Raya Barat (now Jalan Jenderal Sudirman), Bandung. This rental space was used to accommodate the academic and administrative activities of the Faculty of Engineering for ten years, until 1974.

With the continuous growth of UNPAR, the consideration to acquire a larger campus complex became a priority. Consequently, a plot of land on Jalan Ciumbuleuit, which was the former site of the Solsana Lung Hospital, was purchased. In 1973, construction began on this land for the building of the Faculty of Engineering’s Civil Engineering Department, which was officially inaugurated for use in 1974. Meanwhile, the activities of the Architecture Department were also conducted in the same building until the Architecture Department building was completed in 1978. The planning team for the construction of the Faculty of Engineering (Civil and Architecture) building also involved winning students from a design competition held among Architecture students.

In 1979, due to his advanced age, the deanship of Prof. Ir. A.M. Semawi (1963-1978) was concluded by Rg. Ing. Sudarmadi Nitihardjo (1 October 1978 – 31 December 1979), who was subsequently succeeded by Prof. Ir. Herman D. Sudjono, M. Arch. as the third Dean, serving from December 1979 to December 1987. During his tenure, the Faculty of Engineering underwent curriculum and educational system reforms. These changes were prompted by the issuance of Ministerial Decree No. 0124/U/1979, which introduced a new education system with credit units (SKS) and regulated higher education levels. Consequently, guided by the Technology Consortium and the results of a workshop among the Faculty of Engineering’s teaching staff, the refinement and implementation of this new curriculum commenced in 1981.
The growing strength of the teaching staff at the Faculty of Engineering led to the emergence of many high-quality cadres from UNPAR itself, including both lecturers and administrative officials. Following the leadership of Prof. Ir. Herman D. Sudjono, M. Arch., the position of Dean was assumed by UNPAR’s own alumni, namely:
- Dr. Ir. Djoko Sularnosidji, MCE. (December 1, 1987 – September 31, 1995)
- Dr. Ir. Wimpy Santosa, M.Eng, MSCE. (October 1, 1995 – March 30, 1999)
- Ir. Alexander Sastrawan, MSP. (April 1, 1999 – November 30, 2002)
- Prof. Robertus Wahyudi Triweko, Ph.D. (December 1, 2002 – February 28, 2010)
- A. Caroline Sutandi, Ph.D. (March 1, 2010 – February 28, 2014)
- Dr. Johannes Adhijoso Tjondro (March 1, 2014 – February 28, 2017)
- Dr. Yohanes Basuki Dwisusanto (March 1, 2017 – September 30, 2019)
- Doddi Yudianto, Ph.D. (October 1, 2019 – November 30, 2023)
- Ir. Budijanto Widjaja, Ph.D., IPU. (Acting Dean from October 1, 2023 – September 30, 2024, then Dean from October 1, 2024 – present)
Currently, Building 4 (Civil Engineering) and Building 5 (Architecture) have been demolished for the construction of the Arntz-Geise Learning Center (PPAG) building. This center consists of two sections: PPAG 1 and PPAG 2.
PPAG 1 is designated for the administrative activities and lecturer offices of the UNPAR Faculty of Engineering, and also serves as the office for the Civil Engineering Student Association (HMPSTS) and the Architecture Student Association (HMPSArs).
PPAG 2 is an integrated lecture building used by all faculties, and also houses studios for the Faculty of Engineering. Facilities in this building include an Auditorium, a Multifunction Hall, Lecture Theatres, and seminar rooms.
