The Faculty of Engineering at Parahyangan Catholic University (UNPAR) was established in 1960, initially opening two departments: the Civil Engineering Department and the Architecture Department. From its founding until the end of 1979, the Faculty of Engineering was led by its first dean, Prof. Ir. A.M. Semawi. During his leadership, alongside the rapid development of the campus and the increasing number of students, all activities of the Faculty of Engineering were relocated in 1974 from the previous venue at the Olympus Bread Factory to a new campus located on Jalan Ciumbuleuit.

Prof. Ir. A.M. Semawi was subsequently succeeded by Rg. Ing. Sudarmadi Nitihardjo as the 2nd Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, followed by Prof. Ir. Herman D. Sudjono, M. Arch. as the 3rd Dean. During the leadership of Prof. Ir. Herman D. Sudjono, M. Arch., UNPAR, including the Faculty of Engineering, underwent curriculum changes following the issuance of the Decree of the Minister of Education and Culture No. 0124/U/1979 concerning the regulation of higher education program levels and teaching certificate programs. At the end of his tenure, Prof. Ir. Herman D. Sudjono, M. Arch. was succeeded by Dr. Ir. Djoko Sularnosidji, MCE as the 4th Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, who was also the first alumnus to lead the faculty. To date, the leadership of the Faculty of Engineering has changed 12 times. In line with major changes in UNPAR’s organizational structure and governance in 2023, the leadership of the Faculty of Engineering is now held by Budijanto Widjaja as Dean for the period of 1 October 2023 to 30 September 2027.

In line with UNPAR’s commitment to continuously improve the quality and service of education, in 1995 UNPAR was entrusted to open Master’s degree programs in Civil Engineering and Architecture. Not long after, in 2000, UNPAR also successfully obtained permission to organize doctoral programs in both fields. These master’s and doctoral programs, which were initially managed by the Graduate School, have been integrated under the Faculty of Engineering since 1 July 2018.

As of 1 November 2025, the Faculty of Engineering is 65 years old. Throughout this time, the Faculty of Engineering has strived to maintain the quality of education while upholding public trust as one of the best study program choices, particularly in the fields of Architecture and Civil Engineering. In relation to the organizational transformation undertaken by UNPAR, the end of September 2024 marked the conclusion of the departmental structure within the Faculty of Engineering. Starting 1 October 2024, the Faculty of Engineering functions as a study program management unit directly overseeing eight study programs. These include undergraduate, master’s, doctoral, and professional programs in the fields of Civil Engineering and Architecture.

Currently, the Undergraduate and Master’s Programs in Civil Engineering hold the “Unggul” (Superior) predicate from the Independent Accreditation Agency for Engineering Study Programs (LAM Teknik). The Undergraduate Program in Architecture holds the “Unggul” predicate from the National Accreditation Agency for Higher Education (BAN-PT). The Master’s Program in Architecture is accredited A by BAN-PT. The Doctoral Program in Architectural Sciences holds the “Baik Sekali” (Very Good) predicate from BAN-PT, and the Doctoral Program in Civil Engineering holds the “Baik Sekali” predicate from LAM Teknik. Meanwhile, the Professional Engineer Program is currently accredited C by BAN-PT, and the Professional Architect Program still holds temporary accreditation.
